So you want to paint your room gray….awesome! Now, which gray to you choose?
If you’ve ever found yourself staring wide-eyed and bewildered at the florescent lit paint sample isle at your local paint or home improvement store, fear not. You’re not alone. We’ve ALL been there and trust me, many a mistake has been made in choosing the right color gray. Several years ago when Dave and I were trying to make very (as in VERY) economical home improvements to our first kitchen, I chose a gray that I thought would work well with our horrible blue laminate counters, which we planned to upgrade later but for the moment, needed a quick fix. I learned very quickly that grays can be tricky. Depending on the lighting and more importantly, the base color, grays can go just about every shade of blue to purple to brown. Full disclosure, mine went a lovely (not really) shade of violet which was quickly (frantically) altered with a handy bottle of colorant that we happened to have on hand. I learned though, that paying attention to that base color is critical in choosing the right gray.

and whatever you do, don’t neglect the doors!!!
So what do you think? Are you ready for gray? Remember, it’s a neutral, it looks great with everything if you find the right shade and more importantly, the correct base. If you’d like help choosing the perfect shade of gray, I’m happy to help!
